Amisha Patel (or Ameesha Patel) was born on June 9th, 1977 to Amit and Asha Patel. Amisha Patel graduated from Tufts University, and later worked at Morgan Stanley. Upon returning to India, she joined a theatre company to begin acting. Amisha Patel's first film was Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai, and ended up being a huge success. Her second film was Gadar Ek Prem Katha with Sunny Deol. So far it is the number one grossing film for India this century. Amisha played Sakina, a Muslim set in the 1947 Indo-Pakistan conflict. Longtime boyfriend Vikram Bhatt and Amisha Patel are supposedly no longer dating.
Beautiful Amisha Patel has been a film sensation since her on-screen debut in Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai in 2000 in a role critics described as "exuberant, torturous and mature". After the success of the movie, Amisha went on to other films, including the Telegu drama Badri, in which she acted alongside the luminous Pawan Kalyan. After this blockbuster, Amisha was known throughout the nation as a prodigious and up-and-coming actress, blessed with both talent and beauty. In 2001, Amisha Patel starred in Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, the award-winning historical drama set in the midst of the 1947 partition. The film became the biggest Bollywood film of the 21st century so far. She was praised for her convincing performance by the film critic Taran Adarsh, who noted "she looks the character she is portraying and impresses with a natural performance", although some detractors condemned the movie as being anti-Pakistani. Although Amisha Patel starred in some unsuccessful films in the couple of years following Gadar, she made a splash in the love story Humraaz. In recent years, she has revitalized her career with the critically acclaimed Ankahee and the smash hit Bhool Bhulaiyaa. Expect more to come from one of Bollywood's best and most beautiful talents! |
